The "Good Plants" vegan probiotic almond yogurts have now been launched under the Light & Fit banner by Danone, the world leader in dairy. These yogurts were created to be among the dairy alternative products under the initiative dubbed "Good Plants" by the dairy industry giant. The series includes four flavor options: Vanilla, Strawberry, Lemon Meringue, and Chocolate Coconut. Compared to their dairy yogurt counterparts, these 'better' yogurts are said to have fewer calories, lower sugar content, added fiber compared to traditional dairy yogurts, and no traces of cholesterol. They also feature the addition of B. lactis, a BB-12 probiotic known for improving digestive health, which aligns with the current market trend of increased gut-friendliness in food items.
Danone, a world leader in food, has concentrated too much on plant-based products since it acquired WhiteWave Foods in 2016. In 2017, the company made profits of $760 million, mainly due to the explosive plant-based market. Innovations like Silk's prebiotic almond and cashew milk and So Delicious organic almond milk drove sales growth, through which plant-based Danone made significant contributions to its revenue in 2018. By 2025, the very ambitious organization strives to triple its current sales of vegan food products while considering sustainability aspects and market demands. There is a compelling trend toward the dairy-free market, with about 35% of Irish consumers reducing dairy, around 30% of UK consumers avoiding both cheese and milk and half of US consumers drinking dairy-free milk. One can expect the dairy industry to face real struggles not too far in the future, brought about by the co-cunitization of plant-based foods.
Danone welcomes plant-based offerings for both climate change and sustainability. Good Plants vegan almond yogurts are designed for eco-friendly customers with a much smaller carbon footprint than that of traditional dairy consumption. This is again a step toward decreasing the consumption of animal-based foods worldwide, which will foster a more sustainable food ecosystem. Good Plants yogurts are available in Texas and a few Northeast retailers, with plans to expand availability nationwide. Good Plants' vegan almond yogurt is now committed to most verticals because it combines health benefits, sustainability, and diversity in flavor. It has incorporated probiotic benefits for digestive health along with lower calories and sugar, making Good Plants stand out as an option for health enthusiasts. By 2025, Danone wants to triple the sales volume of its plant-based food, which signals how serious the company is about sustainability and consumer preference. Good Plants is, therefore, a strategic product addition to Danone's portfolio and a journey toward a more sustainable and inclusive future for food. Plans for a nationwide rollout and continued innovation in products will see Good Plants connect more and more with consumers.
