Brazil's Carecode startup raised a pre-seed round of $4.3 million amid milestones in its aim to transform customer service in the health industry through conversational artificial intelligence (AI). The company, backed by a16z, QED, and other investors, intends to support new ways of communicating between healthcare providers and patients, further reducing operational costs and increasing service efficiency. Part of the funding will be used to develop its AI service platform, which already mirrors performance capabilities in handling most contact center activities at a mere fraction of the cost.
Carecode has the potential to leverage conversational AI to provide its customers with empathetic, brand-friendly communications through healthcare providers for both text and audio communications on popular platforms like WhatsApp and will soon add voice calls. The AI system automates boring and repetitive activities to serve customers faster and more efficiently. The economic aspect is quite significant, as about 50% of the revenue of Brazilian healthcare companies goes to contact centers and administrative payrolls. So far, an early pilot with a partner company shows that Carecode's agents can perform the task at a fraction of the cost compared to maintaining the same level of service.
This innovative technology is trending in the era of generative AI across various industries. According to PYMNTS Intelligence, another effect of this new paradigm is that generative AI transforms customer service by automating recurring tasks, improving personalization, and enabling real-time support. Nearly all chief marketing officers (97%) believe that using generative AI capabilities is very effective in helping employees and customers. Global giants like Microsoft and Salesforce are also getting into the act by providing enterprise-grade systems that enable automated task management, scheduling, complaint resolution, and order-taking, among others. Financial services have also seen some of the greatest benefits of AI; Bank of America reports that its virtual assistant, Erica, has handled over 50 million requests since its launch in 2018.
The startup has raised a whopping $4.3 million in pre-seed funding to expand and digitize health services with AI. Carecode aims to continue enhancing the platform's capabilities, particularly by incorporating voice call utilities along with the current WhatsApp text and audio integrations, from which future improvements in health communication and access will follow. The transformation affecting healthcare is based on the shift in demand toward affordable solutions. The AI-driven platform from Carecode has already reduced operational costs for health service providers, particularly in places like Brazil, where 50% of revenue is spent on contact centers and administrative payroll. As it gains usage, the application may completely transform how healthcare providers interact with their patients regarding empathy, speed, and clarity. Carecode is doing what it specifically promised, and it is in line with the new trend of AI in customer service. It has emerged as one of the leading firms in AI-based solutions for the healthcare sector.
