Omar Abdullah launched the e-SEHAT app to cater to the healthcare needs of J&K people

Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah launched the e-SEHAT app. A comprehensive initiative and one-stop digital solution app have been introduced to provide health safety to citizens, including medical professionals and doctors, in Jammu and Kashmir. The application is suggested to build user-friendly and additional integrative features involving the educational appointment system of private health institutions. Electronic Health Records (EHR) benefits healthcare professionals in academic resources, prescription and billing management, lab result integration, and research opportunities. The Chief Minister directed authorities to organize hands-on training and schedule workshops for the staff to get familiarized with the concept and the applications. The weekly inspection by the Secretary, Health and Medical Education; quarterly by the Minister in-charge, and monthly by the Chief Secretary is initiated to ensure smooth and effective implementation, to monitor the accessibility and overall performance and progress of the application.

The idea to develop this app enhances the health market. The digital application is designed to deliver accessible healthcare facilities and services to patients, including their attendants, to both the private and public sectors in Jammu and Kashmir. This app motivates and supports medical students, offering them several quick services and guidance on hostel accommodation, student exchange programs, information on academic courses, and library facilities. The motive is to strengthen collaborative business between patients, healthcare providers, and insurers to promote awareness and stimulate growth in the healthcare sector by improving and maintaining communication to access facilities to healthcare resources.

The spokesperson congratulated the Chief Minister and team for elaborating the new development to telehealth, including a wide range of applications addressing the health safety of UT people. Syed Abid Rashid, the Health Secretary, explained in detail the e-SEHAT application’s purpose, targets, and objectives. Further, he highlighted departmental development in digitalization, promoting health safety and solutions offering a first opinion for quick consultation and tele-diagnosis. This app is travel-friendly, easily accessible from offices, homes, and hospitals. This app benefits remote areas by delivering services to several users, patients, the general public, medical students, healthcare professionals, and aspirants of paramedical and medical courses.

The spokesperson says the SEHAT app delivers various offerings to improve and develop the healthcare sector in Jammu and Kashmir. It avails doctors and institutions with various featured options for tele-consultation, emergency care, telemedicine, diagnostic and surgical services, and appointment bookings. The application features tools for the general public to promote health and prevent diseases, including medication reminders, health tracking capabilities, AI AI-powered symptoms checker, medication reminders, multilingual support, and integrated wearable devices.

Chief Minister added, Awareness campaigns will be launched to literate the public to provide detailed knowledge of the application and its benefits, after the training of the staff.
