Stryker Corporation, a leading company in medical technologies, introduced the newest generation of the InThrill Thrombectomy System. This has become a new standard in the treatment of vascular disease. The InThrill system is designed to address the small vessel and arteriovenous (AV) access thrombectomy needs and was developed in the Inari Medical division, which the company acquired. This 8-French over-the-wire system incorporates the InThrill thrombectomy catheter and the InThrill sheath, designed to offer improved clot removal, enhanced wall apposition, and enhanced physician ergonomics.
On May 19, 2025, Dr. Joshua Pinter and Dr. Anish Ghodadra at UPMC performed the first case of the InThrill system in an official global launch of the novel technology. Talking of the performance, Dr. Pinter observed, “The contemporary edition of the InThrill has led to more efficacious and consistent thrombectomies.” In such a way, Stryker shows good dynamics in its innovation pipeline, and the InThrill launch proves it cares about the development of a full-comprehended portfolio of life-saving, physician-friendly solutions in the vascular market. The new design in the system now has an offset single open mouth to provide maximum engagement with the clot, and has internal struts to provide equal clot distribution. They further provide enhancement in the back-end design, giving the physician more control and comfort in using the system during difficult procedures.
InThrill Thrombectomy System is approved to non-surgically remove thrombi and emboli in the blood vessels, which includes the AV dialysis access site. The consistency is aimed at the peripheral vasculature, which fulfills a significant gap in minimally invasive thrombectomy, addressing vascular access impediments for patients.
InThrill has the capability to provide increased efficiency in the procedure itself, to potentially save procedure time and improve patient outcomes in dialysis and other interventions that necessitate a steady vascular access. Furthermore, with the introduction of the InThrill Thrombectomy System, as well as new FDA clearances, this just further demonstrates how Stryker is committed to developing new innovative products. That provides effective solutions to physicians to enhance the lives of patients in a broad range of clinical applications.
