The leading tech players who are betting on robotics and physical Artificial Intelligence are making similar predictions, such as billionaire venture capitalist Vinod Khosla, who stated that breakthroughs like ChatGPT will be possible within the next 2 to 3 years, given the current progress in the field. Embodied or physical AI is now emerging as a separate branch and no longer a niche field due to excellent progression in the market for Artificial intelligence, which has already been developed prominently, leading to revolutionization from industrial automation to autonomous electric vehicles, delivery drones, and others, as well as redefining human interaction with technology.
Though Generative AI is the talk of the town nowadays, physical AI is the future and holds the potential to drive the market on a notable scale within a couple of years. According to billionaire venture capitalist Vinod Khosla's prediction, physical AI could become a reality sooner than you think, working alongside humans in every possible sector to make tasks easier than before.
Khosla shared his views on a podcast named “Uncapped” that was streamlined on YouTube last week. “Robotics will take a little longer, but I think we’ll have the ChatGPT moment in the next two to three years,” he further added to his opinion,” Almost everybody in the 2030s will have a humanoid robot at home. Probably start with something narrow, like cooking for yourself. It can chop vegetables, cook food, clean dishes, but stays within the kitchen environment.”
He also predicted that these robots would be sold at a reasonable cost due to their increasing demand and higher production rate, and the price could be nearly between USD300 and USD400 per month. However, Khosla said, these robots currently have limitations that prevent them from learning on their own. If we change the current environment for which they are programmed, they also stop working as they aren't wired for different environments. This needs to be tackled soon. Big tech companies like Apple are hesitant to work on humanoid robots, but the revolution in physical robots may come from start-ups and small players in the market who aim to capitalize on the growing demand for physical AI. Big techies like Sam Altman and Nvidia CEO also predicted a similar future as per their statements in recent interviews on a social platform.
