Brainlab & Amrita Hospital Partner to Set Up North Indias First Brain & Spine Centre of Excellence in Faridabad
In September 2026, Brainlab and Amrita Hospital, Faridabad, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a Centre of Excellence for Brain & Spine, based on Brainlab’s Loop-X Mobile Imaging Robot.
The center will bring together Amrita Hospital’s clinical expertise in neurology with Brainlab’s intraoperative imaging and surgical navigation technologies. The aim is to support complex brain and spine procedures, as well as clinical training, technology demonstrations, and promote knowledge exchange among surgeons and healthcare professionals.
The center will use Loop-X, a mobile imaging system that provides 2D and 3D cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) images in the operating room. The system can provide surgical teams with intraoperative images that can be integrated with navigation technology to support surgical planning and verification during procedures.
Intraoperative imaging can also allow surgeons to visualize anatomy during a procedure, verify implant placement, and acquire additional images when clinically required. In brain and spine surgery, such imaging can be used to assess surgical outcomes before the procedure is completed. Loop-X also allows imaging to be focused on the area being treated, which can help to manage radiation exposure.

Impact on the Healthcare Market
Loop-X combines robotic positioning with 2D and 3D intraoperative imaging and allows the field of view to be adjusted according to clinical requirements. It will accommodate different patient positions, while its robotic positioning enables imaging to be repeated during a procedure when required. The system can also provide updated anatomical images during surgery, reducing the need to move a patient to an imaging facility outside the operating room during a procedure. The images can also be integrated with Brainlab’s navigation systems as part of the intraoperative workflow.
Under the MoU, Brainlab and Amrita Hospital will collaborate on the Centre of Excellence as a hub for brain and spine surgery, clinical training, and the use of imaging and navigation technologies. The center is also expected to support access to specialized neuro and spine care for patients in North India.
Impact on the Brain Imaging and Neuroimaging Market
The global brain imaging and neuroimaging market is valued at USD 15.84 billion in 2025 and is predicted to increase from USD 16.71 billion in 2026 to approximately USD 26.86 billion by 2035, expanding at a CAGR of 5.42% from 2026 to 2035.
According to Precedence Research, the primary driver of the market's expansion is the rise in mortality due to several neurological disorders, including Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, schizophrenia, and other brain/neurological conditions. Two further significant growth-promoting elements are the rising demand for neuroimaging technologies and the ongoing study and research into brain mapping. Additionally, the governments of various countries are working hard to improve public awareness of neurological illnesses and the variety of available treatments.
Additionally, as more neurologic illnesses are identified using techniques from microscopy, optogenetics, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and electrophysiology, the sector is set to expand even further.
