CodaMetrix announced the formation of its Coding Quality Council, which is the first governance body comprising subject matter experts and leaders from major healthcare systems nationwide.

The main objective was to measure coding and accuracy across the industry, which is rooted in technology and coding standards, certification programs, and professional practices established by organizations such as AHIMA and AAPC. This framework provides a transparent and consistent approach to evaluating coding quality for both human and AI-generated coding.

According to Towards Healthcare, the U.S. medical coding market is projected to experience significant growth, with estimates suggesting the market size will increase from USD 27.48 billion in 2026 to approximately USD 69.16 billion by 2035, representing a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 10.8% from 2026 to 2035. Growth is driven by the push toward autonomous coding software and AI platforms, reduces administrative burdens by processing huge numbers of documents quickly, freeing human coders to handle more complex cases, such as incorrect billings and the misinterpretation of medical documents, which result in immense financial losses and expose providers to fraud risks.

CEO of CodaMetrix, Hamid Tabatabaie, stated that “Medical coding sits at the center of clinical, financial, quality, and research workflows, yet the industry still lacks a consistent and objective way to measure coding quality and accuracy”. With technological innovation, AI becomes increasingly embedded in healthcare to establish trust, transparency, and accountability to gain an objective standard for the industry.

About CodaMetrix

It is recognized as Best in KLAS for Autonomous Coding.

CodaMetrix helps healthcare organizations reduce administrative burden and strengthen revenue cycle performance. It has the capabilities of advanced Machine Learning (ML) and Natural Language Processing (NLP) to read clinical notes and is designed to seamlessly integrate with Electronic Health Records systems, including deep integration available on the Epic Showroom.

A recent report by Towards Healthcare highlights that the U.S. medical coding market is witnessing growth due to healthcare providers increasingly contracting specialized coding firms to manage labor shortages, reduce administrative burdens, cut in-house operational costs, and shift toward value-based care and Medicare Advantage plans, which has created high demand for Risk Adjustment coders.
