Slovakia Biogas Plant Enters New Phase

EnviTec Biogas has completed its 2nd biomethane upgrading project in Slovakia. The project is managed by CITA VIA s.r.o. and located in municipality of Ožďany. It marks an important step in the company’s expansion in the European renewable energy market. The project uses a 417 Nm³/h EnviThan gas upgrading system to convert raw biogas into biomethane, which can be used as a cleaner energy source.
Moreover, the existing biogas plant at the site has been running for around 14 years. Also, it uses agricultural materials such as maize, cattle manure, and poultry waste to produce energy. Also, with the addition of the new upgrading system, the plant continues electricity production while also producing biomethane. This combination improves energy efficiency and supports cleaner fuel generation.
Furthermore, in the current period, the facility processes around 750 Nm³/h of biogas. In the future, there are plans to increase this capacity to up to 1,300 Nm³/h. Also, this shows that the project is designed for long-term growth and scalability.

According to Towards Chem&Materials, the biomethane market size accounted for USD 11.65 billion in 2025 and is predicted to increase from USD 13.38 billion in 2026 to approximately USD 46.4 billion by 2035, expanding at a CAGR of 14.82% from 2026 to 2035, due to the greater shift towards sustainability.

Moreover, this second biomethane project highlights the growing importance of renewable gas in Europe. Also, it shows how existing biogas plants can be upgraded to produce cleaner fuels while improving efficiency. The project also reflects increasing demand for sustainable energy solutions that support both environmental goals and long-term energy security.
