Haas Unveils DC-1/40 Drill Center for Rapid Steel Machining

On 19th February 2026, Haas automation has introduced the DC-1/40 Drill Centre, a universal machine for drilling, tapping and milling steel and other metals. The DC-1/40 is a vertical machining center with a 40-taper spindle. The machine runs at 10,000 rpm as standard, but it is possible to increase the speed to 12,000 to 15000 rpm. This facilitates faster processing of steel parts and shortens machining cycles.
This machine comes with a 20-tool turret-style changer which enables the operator to quickly change tools, thus reducing machine downtime between operations. This product enables drilling, tapping and milling in a single operation, thus eliminating the need for several machines in the workshop. During the live presentation, the DC-1/40 drilled and machined steel efficiently, demonstrating smooth transitions between milling, drilling and tapping operations. This machine has a rigid structure that provides accuracy during heavy cuts, thus making it ideal for precision parts.
