The Indian Union Minister for the Electronics and IT sector, Ashwini Vaishnav, declared that a semiconductor chip that will be completely manufactured in India is expected to be introduced this year into the market. Aiming to meet approximately 60% of global demand, six fabrication units are expected to be made available soon for the same, enhancing India's manufacturing capability

While reporting to the Indian media, the Union Minister further explained the ambitious plan to foster the manufacturing of semiconductors in the country. The semiconductor chips will range between 28 and 90 nanometers and will be released at the end of the year. This journey was initiated far before, specifically in the year 2022, and progress has been notable to this date. Chips having a range of 28 to 90 nanometers are generally utilized in telecommunications, automotive systems, railway applications and equipment used in the power sector. In terms of semiconductor language, the smaller nanometer value shows highly dense and packed transistors with increased performance and efficiency. Clearly, the market is vast, and India's homegrown semiconductor will find various possibilities to foster exponentially with continuous efforts.

It is essential to have a balanced growth strategy, said the union minister, referring to the equal strength held by the manufacturing and services sectors. Manufacturing should be an integral part of the Indian semiconductor market while keeping an eye on offering excellent services in the market. The Indian market’s growth heavily depends on both aspects of the semiconductor sector. Reportedly, the union minister further added that the profound changes occurring by integrating artificial intelligence and AI's transformations in diverse sectors are commendable. Everyone should embrace this technological shift irrespective of sector and profession. To foster the Indian linguistic, social, and cultural fabric, the development of the AI system is essential. Recognizing this necessity, one such initiative named SARVAM is in the pipeline to develop an Indian AI system.
