LONGi Green Energy Technology Co., Ltd. announced the launch of a high-yield 700W solar module based on the technology. The transition is an important step in photovoltaic innovation, which places LONGi at the international forefront of the solar industry. Production efficiency exceeding 700W in power output with a nearly 26% figure is achieved by the newly launched 2382mm by 1134mm sized module that officially opens the door of what LONGi confidently calls the 25 percent + Era of solar modules performance. This is the first instance of this hybrid structure scaled to a mass production level, and hence, the innovation bearing a technical success is now also a commercial landmark.
The introduction of the new module shows that LONGi strives to enhance energy production per square meter and not the physical size of the panel. HIBC module provides an impressive power density of 259 W/m2, which is quite outstanding compared to others that produce 700 W but use a large size (like 2384mm x 1303mm) to achieve that kind of power. In its emphasis on power density, LONGi is solving two spatial limitations: what can be done by rooftop solar installers and by utility-scale solar projects in land-constrained areas. This efficiency-centric strategy underlines the company vision that savvy engineering and not merely scaling up is the secret to long-term value and sustainability as far as solar deployment is concerned.
Besides structural advances, the HIBC modules also have the advantage of high-density packaging, which raises the extent of screen coverage to 95.1 percent against 93.2 percent, thus maximizing light absorption and optimizing energy losses. They also brought in a new formal performance parameter in the photovoltaic industry by unrolling the term of power density. This further offers a more relevant parameter to measure the performance of the modules, especially in a photovoltaic plant where land utilization optimization is a high-priority factor. Furthermore, this trend possibly changes the way the industry determines the competitiveness of modules in the future.
Zhong Baoshen - Chairman at LONGi
“High conversion efficiency remains the central value of our photovoltaic solutions. We’ve consistently avoided the route of simply enlarging panels for more power. That approach compromises reliability and long-term durability. Instead, we have focused on improving output within standardized dimensions, which brings more value to customers while ensuring superior quality. The HIBC technology is not only a technological breakthrough—it’s a strategic milestone that redefines what high-efficiency solar can achieve at scale.”
