MedGenome Launches OncoTrack MRD For Personalised Cancer Monitoring

In September 2026, MedGenome recently launched OncoTrack MRD, which is a personalized and ultrasensitive NGS-based tumor-informed Molecular Residual Disease (MRD) test for cancer patients. Launched in Bengaluru on September 3, the test uses a patient’s own tumor tissue to identify tumor-specific signals and then tracks circulating tumor DNA through blood samples. The company says the test can detect and measure residual cancer, identify potential recurrence earlier than conventional methods, and support treatment decisions. It can also be repeated through a blood test multiple times a year, as clinically appropriate.

OncoTrack MRD uses a patient’s own tumor tissue rather than relying on a generic set of mutations. The company says this allows it to track tumor-specific signals through circulating tumor DNA. It is also meant to complement, rather than replace, imaging and clinical assessment. That distinction matters because a molecular signal is not the same as a visible tumor. And a positive MRD result does not automatically mean the same treatment decision across all solid cancers. The evidence around MRD-guided treatment is still developing across different tumor types.

OncoTrack MRD can also be applied across a broad range of solid tumors, including breast, colorectal, lung, ovarian and other gynecological cancers, pancreatic, oesophageal, gastric, hepatocellular and thoracic cancers, as well as melanoma. The company particularly highlights resected Stage II/III colorectal cancer, early-stage non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), and early or locally advanced breast cancer after curative-intent treatment. The main aim is to add another layer to what doctors already know from scans and clinical assessment.

The company also said that the approach is supported by global clinical evidence, including studies from the CIRCULATE-Japan program and international oncology trials exploring the role of tumor-informed circulating tumor DNA in treatment monitoring and recurrence detection.

Unlike other tests that are based on a generic panel of mutations, OncoTrack MRD uses tumour-specific signals identified from an individual patient's cancer tissue. This particular approach is designed to enable longitudinal monitoring through a repeatable blood test, which can be undertaken multiple times a year depending on clinical requirements. 
The test can support monitoring across a range of solid tumors, including breast, colorectal, lung, ovarian, pancreatic, oesophageal, gastric and liver cancers, as well as melanoma, and is particularly suited for patients who have completed curative-intent treatment for selected early-stage or locally advanced cancers. With home sample collection and nationwide availability, OncoTrack MRD aims to expand access to longitudinal molecular monitoring across India, as precision oncology increasingly combines genomic insights with imaging and clinical evaluation.
