According to the record copy sent to dealers and reviewed by Reuters, from January 2023 to March 2024, Neta has booked approximately 64,719 early sales using the insurance scheme method. It accounted for over half of the sales of 117,000 vehicles, which were reported over a period of more than 15 months. Zeekr also used the insurance scheme method to book its early sales in late 2024. This sale was made in the southern city of Xiamen by the company's main dealer, state-owned Xiamen C&D Automobile.

The Chinese auto industry is expressing reckoning action by state media, calling out the zero-mileage car practices. China's cabinet has pledged to forego “irrational” competition, and other central government frameworks are conducting meetings with industry players to discuss the method used by Neta and Zeekr.

Chinese state media have reported Zeekr’s car is being sold with incentives already purchased to increase its sales. These movements have highlighted the seriousness of the Chinese authorities over the crackdown. A government-owned financial publication, the China Securities Journal, has questioned Zeekr for its unusually high sales in cities such as Shenzhen and Xiamen, particularly the surge in Xiamen’s insurance registration records. The newspaper has published an interview with Zeekr car buyers in Guangzhou and Chongqing, reporting that these buyers received exotic insurance policies before purchasing their cars. The newspaper has also questioned Neta for its unusual sales. Reuters is reporting for the first time information on Neta’s increased sales.
