Olympus Corporation, a medical technology powerhouse that aims to improve the lives of people by making them healthier, safer, and more fulfilling, has announced the U.S. release of its VISERA S OTV-S500 imaging platform. Developed with ear, nose, and throat (ENT) and urology applications in mind, the next-generation system introduces superior diagnostic capabilities to the office and outpatient environment. VISERA S features a small form factor and integration capabilities, making it a significant advancement in the diagnostic imaging and procedural efficiency of physicians in a wide variety of specialties.
The heart of the VISERA S system is its multifunctional imaging suite that enables clinicians to interchange three light modes, such as standard white light, Narrow Band Imaging (NBItm), and stroboscopy mode (via an upgrade) at the press of a button. The flexibility is useful in helping clinicians identify and describe conditions in the field of ENT, including vocal fold polyps and glottic cancer, and in assisting urology procedures, including the diagnosis and treatment of non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC). Olympus provides more accurate, more reliable diagnostics and helps with more effective patient treatment planning through better visualization of mucosal and vascular structures.
In addition to its adaptability, the VISERA S platform has been characterized by quality image and workflow integration compared to its predecessor, the CV-170. These innovations help Olympus highlight its long-standing focus on providing clinicians with the tools that improve not only the quality of diagnostic accuracy but also patient-centered care. The VISERA S provides the right answer-providing state-of-the-art visualization but is also practical in offering day-to-day use in the office and ambulatory setting.
Olympus has invested in its connectivity capabilities, which demonstrates an awareness of the dynamic healthcare digital environment. Furthermore, as interoperability increasingly gains importance among hospitals and clinics, the capability of the VISERA S to interface with content management systems means that patient data is always well-organised, accessible, and secure.
Richard Reynolds, President of the Medical Systems Group at Olympus Corporation of the Americas
“Whether in an office or outpatient setting, physicians are looking for opportunities to combine procedural and cost efficiencies, which is why we are excited to launch the VISERA S imaging platform for ENT and urological applications. The VISERA S video system may provide cost efficiencies by offering compatibility with a wide range of endoscopes and procedural and workflow efficiencies by combining multiple light systems in one platform and the ability to gather and share patient data from one system.”
