Savita Oil Technologies Expanded Synthetic Ester Production Capacity at Mahad Facility

Savita Oil Technologies has successfully commissioned the second phase of its synthetic ester manufacturing plant at its Mahad facility in Maharashtra, boosting its advanced lubricant and thermal fluid manufacturing capabilities. The new expansion comes on the heels of the commissioning of Phase 1 in October 2023, with particular focus on the growing demand for high-performance industrial lubricants, transformer fluids, EV coolants, and immersion cooling applications.

Recurring Spills In Harsh Offshore Eliminated With Advanced Ester Technology

The multipurpose manufacturing plant will be used to manufacture synthetic esters with excellent thermal stability, oxidation resistance, and dielectric properties, suitable for application in the harsh offshore operating environment. Due to their biodegradability, high flash points, and extreme marine and subsea performance, synthetic esters are increasingly being used in offshore lubricants.

The facility also enables advanced cooling fluids for electric vehicles, battery immersion cooling, and data center thermal management systems. Savita noted that in applications where high reliability is expected and sustainability is crucial, synthetic esters have significant benefits over traditional mineral oils.

According to Towards Chemicals And Materials Analytics and Consulting , the offshore lubricants market size was valued at USD 3.95 billion in 2025, is estimated to reach USD 4.19 billion in 2026, and is projected to reach USD 7.04 billion by 2035, exhibiting a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5.95% over the forecast period from 2026 to 2035. In terms of volume, the offshore lubricants market is projected to grow from 2.95 million tons in 2025 to 4.74 million tons by 2035. growing at a CAGR of 4.85% from 2026 to 2035. as demand for plant-based and sustainable packaging is increasing across the globe.

The Offshore Lubricants Market Is Growing Due To The Increasing Offshore Exploration Activities

  • Enhanced offshore oil & gas exploration and Deepwater drilling projects are driving the demand for high-performance lubricants that can withstand extreme pressure and temperature.
  • The increasing amount of offshore wind energy infrastructure investment is driving the need for high-quality lubricants that offer enhanced corrosion protection and extended service life.
  • The rising applications of synthetic esters in thermal management systems, marine equipment, and subsea systems are also contributing to the expansion of the market.
