Wipro GE Healthcare introduced a new generation magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system, the SIGNA Prime Elite, which is manufactured in India, at the IRIA 2026 Annual Conference in Hyderabad. The new MRI platform was developed and manufactured in the Manufacturing Development and Manufacturing (MDM) facility of the company, otherwise known as its Production Linked Incentive (PLI) plant. They symbolize the increasing presence of India in the production of high-end medical equipment. This launch is timely, considering that non-communicable diseases (NCDs) cause more than 66% of all deaths in India. Therefore, there is a high demand for high-quality diagnostic imaging solutions that can help with early diagnosis and early intervention.

SIGNA Prime Elite is developed to increase speed, accuracy, and operational efficiency with the addition of advanced tools of artificial intelligence, to streamline the imaging workflow and enhance clinical accuracy. It runs the system on AIR Recon DLtm, a view reconstruction framework based on deep-learning technology. That improves image clarity by a large percentage and minimizes scan time and noise.

This technology can reduce the table time by up to 37% compared to company comparisons of non deep learning GE HealthCare MRI systems. This technology allows hospitals and diagnostic centers to increase patient throughput without compromising diagnostic quality. This trend is consistent with the overall healthcare transformational agenda in India, which aims to extend advanced diagnostics to small cities in tier II and tier III.

SIGNA Prime Elite presents AI-powered workflow innovations that are designed to streamline the consistency of scan quality and reduce operator bias. Other features like AIR Touchtm automatically identify the best coil settings, removing from the process the need to make any guesses, and saving time in preparation. AIR xtm uses deep learning code to demarcate anatomy and automatically prescribe MRI slices to enhance the reproducibility of intricate neurological and musculoskeletal research.

The benefit of these smart automation tools lies particularly in the high-volume diagnostic environment. The performance and repeatability of results are important factors in providing a consistent outcome. Furthermore, the introduction of SIGNA Prime Elite strengthens the long-standing tradition of Wipro GE Healthcare to manufacture locally and be innovative.
