Adani Invests $100 Bn to Develop Sovereign AI Infrastructure
India's leading marketer, Adani group, announced their target to build one of the world’s largest integrated energy-compute commitments with the investments of $100 bn to develop renewable energy power and hyperscale AI-driven data centers by 2035. This initiative involves the establishment of a long-term sovereign energy and compute platform designed to support India's target for AI sovereignty. Mr. Gautam Adani, the chairperson of the Adana group, said, "Nations that master the symmetry between energy and computers will shape the next decade. India is uniquely positioned to lead. At Adani, we are building on our foundation in data centers and green energy to expand into the complete five-layer AI stack focused on India's technological sovereignty. India will not be a mere consumer in the AI age. We will be the creators, the builders, and the exporters of intelligence, and we are proud to be able to participate in that future."

According to Precedence Research, the sovereign AI infrastructure market size accounted for USD 15.00 billion in 2025 and is predicted to increase from USD 19.20 billion in 2026 to approximately USD 177.09 billion by 2035, expanding at a CAR of 28.00% from 2026 to 2035 due to the increasing geopolitical tensions, the need to secure country’s sensitive information to avoid data breaches and stay competitive in the emerging world of AI.
The roadmap develops on the Adani Connex's 2GW national data center and further aims to proliferate toward a 5 GW target to stay industry relevant. The vision built on a strategic partnership with the tech giant Google to develop the nation’s first and largest AI data center. Moreover, Adana group is also seeking to deepen its business relations with Flip kart while heading to collaboratively develop a second AI infrastructure that supports India’s vision to become an AI sovereign country.
A recent report by Precedence Research highlights that the Sovereign AI infrastructure market is benefiting from rapid expansion of AI models, collaboration between governments and AI tech leaders with huge funding backed by public investors.
