Growing Interest in Kinship Testing

DNA testing is no longer limited to paternity cases. US Diagnostics Center says more families are now using at-home DNA kits to confirm relationships involving siblings, grandparents, aunts, and uncles. The company has reported rising demand for non-paternity relationship tests as families search for answers about biological connections after adoption, immigration, parental loss, or separation.

Why Families Are Choosing These Tests

According to the company, many grandparents raising grandchildren need proof of biological relationships for schools, insurance providers, or government agencies. Sibling DNA tests are also becoming more common in blended families and inheritance disputes. In some cases, relatives of an alleged father may take part in testing when the father is unavailable or unwilling to participate.

According to Towards Healthcare, the genetic testing for consumers (DTC) market is projected to experience significant growth, with estimates suggesting the market size will increase from USD 3.79 billion in 2026 to approximately USD 27.15 billion by 2035, representing a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 24.44% from 2026 to 2035. Rising consumer awareness about preventive healthcare, increasing adoption of personalized medicine, growing accessibility of at-home testing kits, advancements in genomic technologies, and declining sequencing costs are expected to drive strong market growth globally.

How At-Home Testing Works

Each person collects a DNA sample at home using a cheek swab and mails it to the laboratory for analysis. The company compares genetic markers to determine the likelihood of a biological relationship. US Diagnostics Center analyzes up to twenty-eight genetic markers in kinship testing, which can help reduce unclear results in more complex cases.

Faster Results and Growing Accessibility

The company says test results are usually available within two to three business days after the samples reach the laboratory. All kits are shipped in discreet packaging, and faster processing services are also available for urgent cases.

Company officials believe growing awareness about at-home relationship testing will continue driving demand in the coming years. They say many people still do not realize that DNA tests can help confirm family relationships and provide emotional clarity for families dealing with biological connections.

A recent report by Towards Healthcare highlights that the genetic testing for consumers (DTC) market is expanding rapidly due to increasing interest in ancestry analysis, health risk assessment, wellness insights, and carrier screening, alongside growing digital health integration and rising demand for convenient direct-to-consumer healthcare solutions worldwide.
