CoreWeave, a rapidly growing AI cloud infrastructure provider, plans to invest USD 6 billion in constructing an artificial intelligence-focused data center in Pennsylvania. The project is also part of a larger national program to enhance U.S. AI power and infrastructure, aligning well with U.S. President Donald Trump's agenda to reassert U.S. global leadership in emerging technologies.

The new infrastructure, which is planned to support the next phase of AI applications, will be specially constructed to address the rising computational load of AI development and deployment. CoreWeaves' announcement is in line with a wider trend of corporations pledging to expand AI operations in the U.S. as organizations and politicians alike continue efforts to bring key digital infrastructure under the United States' control and help it escape supply chain vulnerabilities.

The new data center will be highly power-intensive and energy-consuming, as it requires 100 megawatts (MW) of electricity during its initial deployment and at full capacity. The development generates about 600 construction jobs and 70 permanent high-labor positions in activities and technical assistance. CoreWeave clarified that the facility will be optimized for high-performance computer applications utilizing AI, and will not support general-purpose cloud services.

Officially announced tomorrow as part of a CEO roundtable on energy policy with the President at the first Pennsylvania Energy and Innovation Summit, organized by Senator Dave McCormick. The increasing convergence between public policy, energy strategy, and technology infrastructure is viewed as the establishment of a new energy economy, and it is the formation of this new energy economy that is at the forefront of the announcement. As previously reported by Reuters, Trump is supposed to launch a larger package of $70 billion of AI and energy-related investments on the same day. The intentions of CoreWeave constitute a major part of that figure, and they strengthen the status of Pennsylvania as an emerging place of high-tech infrastructure and energy-intensive image-intensive processes.

Executive’s Statement
