Embolization, Inc., will present its novel embolization device, using proprietary shape-memory biocompatible polymers to treat the peripheral vasculature. The Vascular Annual Meeting, described as the premier source of education for vascular health professionals and the entire vascular team, has registered with the Society for Vascular Surgery, Society for Vascular Nursing, Vascular Quality Initiative, and Complex Wound Care Masterclass Workshop, co-locating at the conference.

The CEO of Embolization, Jim Kasic, is intended for arterial and venous embolization in the peripheral vasculature. The novel, polymer-based coil minimizes artifacts in CT and MRI imaging that occur with traditional metal devices.

According to Towards Healthcare, the U.S. peripheral vascular devices and accessories market is projected to experience significant growth, with estimates suggesting the market size will increase from USD 6.3 billion in 2026 to approximately USD 12.38 billion by 2035, representing a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 7.8% from 2026 to 2035. Growth is driven by the rising burden of chronic disease, surging incidence of PAD, coupled with high rates of diabetes and obesity, creating a continuous need for diagnostic and therapeutic vascular interventions and ongoing transition from hospital-based procedures to ambulatory surgical centers, which demands highly efficient, specialized, and cost-effective vascular access and closure tools.

FDA clearance

The NED is the only polymer-based coil on the market that has obtained FDA 501(k) clearance; coils are metal-based. Kasic stated that they remain radiopaque under fluoroscopy even though the CT/MRI imaging artifact is minimal

He also added initial results show that are shorter occlusion times and tighter coil packs, which can result in fewer devices per procedure, lower recanalization rates and lower manufacturing costs. This NED coil does everything a traditional metal coil does, but with a novel, radiopaque polymer.

About Embolization, Inc.

Embolization, Inc. is a medical device company that is based in Boulder, Colorado, specializing in minimally invasive interventional devices. They are best known for developing the Nitinol Enhanced Device (NED), an FDA-cleared polymer-based embolic coil used to block blood vessels in the peripheral vasculature.

The NED system uses a proprietary, radiopaque shape-memory polymer. It is designed to achieve rapid vessel occlusion while minimizing the disruptive artifacts seen on CT and MRI scans with traditional metal coils.

A recent report by Towards Healthcare highlights that the U.S. peripheral vascular devices and accessories market is witnessing growth due to increasing cases of Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD), diabetes, and obesity, which are expanding the patient pool and migration of complex vascular procedures from hospitals to Ambulatory Surgical Centers (ASCs) and Office-Based Labs (OBLs) to reduce costs.
