A leading telecom equipment manufacturer, Ericsson, has introduced its first antenna model, which is manufactured in India and targeted at global markets. Telecom Minister of India, Jyotiraditya Scindia, revealed the goals for the telecom sector and announced that the new antenna is ready for commercial release, along with its applications and international shipments starting in July. The Swedish telecom gear major and Indian IT and telecom gear maker VVDN Technologies have collaborated to provide antennas at their plants in Manesar, Haryana.

Ericsson’s passive antenna manufacturing process in India involves local sourcing, production, and engineering. Ericsson has developed component and antenna manufacturing in India in the last year. These antennas are manufactured precisely to propagate electromagnetic waves and effectively work as a medium between wireless communication and electrical signals. These antennas are expected to play a vital role in enabling sub-terahertz and centimeter wave spectrum in the ecosystem of the 6th generation, popularly known as 6G.

Head of Ericsson Antenna System-Mr. Mikael Eriksson said, “This is a long-term investment in capability, talent, and technology. "Our advanced passive antennas play a vital role in the evolution of 5G networks globally, and with our growing local presence, we can deliver future-ready solutions that meet the changing needs of our customers.”

Moreover, requirements for robust network systems have witnessed a significant surge over the past years. Thus, manufacturers are capitalizing on this need by launching highly advanced antennas that can fulfill the evolving needs of communication service providers. Antennas are a crucial component in network systems, enabling the full potential of networks by enhancing high performance, energy efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.

Mr. Nitin Bansal, a managing director of Ericsson India, said, “India is rapidly emerging as a global hub for high-tech manufacturing and innovation. Ericsson’s investment in local production and engineering not only strengthens India’s telecom infrastructure but also contributes to building a resilient, future-ready ecosystem. "Ericsson’s advanced ‘Made in India’ antennas will cater to both domestic and global demand.”
