Kempower is famous around the world as a pioneer in the field of EV charging solutions. This time, they partnered with Bornes Quebec to set up a scalable charging system for the ETSB Quebec, Eastern Townships School Board. This action reaffirms Quebec's commitment to a reduction in carbon emissions and investment in green infrastructure. Hubs Charging opened in 2024 and has 14 DC fast chargers through the innovative technology of Kempower. This becomes integrated with Kempower's cloud-based ChargEye software in real-time monitoring, fleet identification, and dynamic power-sharing. This is the big push for electrifying school transportation across Canada.
ETSB has set up a system of EV charging for the fleet that includes dynamic power sharing, cloud-based management, automatic identification of buses, and built-in public accessibility. The whole system gets detailed real-time data trends and readings from Kempower's ChargEye platform on energy consumption, charging conditions, and fleet performance. The system will recognize fleet buses upon plug-in, eliminating the requirement for additional security measures. The system could in the future become a facility for public charging in off-peak hours, thus enhancing the availability of a sustainable charging infrastructure in Quebec. Going electric in school buses is not only eco-friendly, but it is a cost-efficient venture as well. Therefore, a notable amount is saved in fuel and maintenance, which mostly lies with the electric buses compared to the diesel ones.
The Kempower terminal at ETSB is set to establish a sustainable transportation system for tomorrow, offering easy upgrades for more buses without a complete infrastructure overhaul. ETSB can now take the lead in sustainable transport initiatives and minimize investment costs. Independently of this, Kempower will partner with local organizations like Bornes Quebec to support them in establishing and maintaining charging infrastructure while further economic development in the immediate area. Quebec has spearheaded EV adoption by offering various incentives to hasten the transition. The Kempower charging system implemented successfully in the ETSB was an example for other school boards and fleet operators who wish to electrify their transport networks. Converting the ETSB charging site into a public charging hub will therefore enhance accessibility to charging and support the overall electrification effort.
With this installation of a cutting-edge EV charging system for the ETSB, Kempower in conjunction with Bornes Quebec now enters a crucial chapter into the development of green transportation systems in Canada. The newly constructed charging station will increase the efficiency of the school bus fleet and promote sustainable energy solutions. The project sets the basis for the application of EV infrastructure innovations that would serve as a template for sustainable mobility developments in Canada and beyond.
