Kaynes Semicon Strengthens Semiconductor Ambitions Through Strategic Japanese Partnerships
Kaynes Semicon Private Limited, a wholly owned arm of Kaynes Technology India Limited, has taken an important step toward bolstering India’s semiconductor manufacturing landscape by announcing strategic partnerships with Japan-based AOI Electronics and global trading major Mitsui & Co. The collaborations are expected to significantly support Kaynes Semicon’s planned semiconductor operations and contribute to India’s broader goal of emerging as a competitive global hub for chip manufacturing.

As part of a technology-focused collaboration with AOI Electronics, Kaynes Semicon will gain access to advanced know-how in semiconductor back-end manufacturing. This includes capabilities in advanced packaging, panel-level packaging, and wafer-level redistribution layer technologies. AOI Electronics is internationally known for its strength in backend semiconductor solutions, and the partnership enables Kaynes Semicon to build high-quality, end-to-end turnkey offerings. These services will cater to a wide range of industries such as automotive, industrial systems, consumer electronics, and communications, helping the company address the needs of global customers.
In parallel, Kaynes Semicon has entered into a strategic alliance with Mitsui & Co., a diversified trading and investment group with a presence in more than 60 countries. This partnership is aimed at securing a stable and long-term supply of critical raw materials essential for semiconductor production. These materials include lead frames, molding compounds, specialty gases, die-attach materials, and semiconductor-grade chemicals. By strengthening access to these inputs, Kaynes Semicon is improving supply chain reliability, reducing vulnerability to global disruptions, and laying the foundation for consistent and scalable manufacturing operations.
Raghu Panicker, Chief Executive Officer of Kaynes Semicon, described the partnerships as a key milestone in the company’s journey to establish high-value semiconductor manufacturing capabilities in India. He emphasized that advanced technology access combined with a dependable materials supply chain is vital for building a globally competitive facility that can serve international markets.
These strategic alliances closely align with national programs such as Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat, which aim to promote domestic manufacturing and reduce reliance on imports in critical technology sectors. With these collaborations in place, Kaynes Semicon is positioning itself as an important player in India’s growing semiconductor ecosystem, supporting both domestic industry needs and global supply chains.
