LANXESS Unleashes Powerful, Sustainable Oxidizing Agent for Next-Gen Detergents

In November 2025, LANXESS launched Oxone Monopersulfate Compound, a high-performance oxidizing agent designed for sustainable, cold-water laundry detergents. This eco-friendly innovation enables effective stain removal at just 20°C, helping consumers reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 27 kg annually.
Superior Cold-Wash Performance

Oxone efficiently removes oxidisable, tough stains such as coffee, tea, wine, and fruit juices at temperatures as low as 20°C. It outperforms conventional sodium percarbonate (SPC) systems, even when they are combined with TAED. Oxone is more than just a laundry additive. It dissolves completely in under ten seconds and works perfectly in compact formats like powders, pods, and tablets. While it’s gentle on fabrics and keeps colors bright, its chlorine-free, odorless formula ensures a safer and more pleasant experience for the user. After the oxidation process, it dissolves into harmless, simple sulfate and potassium ions.

According to Towards Chem&Materials, the oxidizing agents market size accounted for USD 5.85 billion in 2025 and is predicted to increase from USD 6.29 billion in 2026 to approximately USD 12.11 billion by 2035, expanding at a CAGR of 7.55% from 2026 to 2035 as product demand for water treatment and chemical production is rapidly increasing globally.

Oxone enhances performance in dishwashers, appliance cleaners, and various household applications. Through this innovation, LANXESS is redefining sustainable, high-performance home care.

Shift Toward Green Oxidizers Accelerates the Oxidizing Agents Market

  • The industry is shifting from conventional halogen-based chemistries towards sustainable, oxygen-based oxidizing agents.
  • Rapid urbanisation and stringent environmental regulations are fuelling high demand for disinfectants such as hydrogen peroxide, chlorine, and potassium permanganate for water and wastewater treatment.
  • Surge in manufacturing of pharmaceuticals needs innovative oxidation processes for production, propelling the demand for specialized oxidants.
  • Innovations in semiconductor manufacturing and electronics necessitate high-grade oxidizing agents, boosting the market growth soon.
