Powering Homes and Electric Vehicles

Luminous Power Technologies started its first lithium-ion battery assembly line in India. This new facility is located in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh. It is an important step for the company as it moves forward in advanced energy storage technology. The new assembly line has a production capacity of 500 MWh, as per the company's claim. This means it can produce a large number of lithium-ion batteries every year. Also, the company has used advanced robotic systems and precise manufacturing methods in this facility to improve quality and efficiency, as per the report.

This assembly line is designed to produce different types of battery packs. These include standalone batteries, battery energy storage systems, and batteries for electric vehicles like e-rickshaws. Because of this, the batteries can be used in many areas such as homes, businesses, industries, and electric mobility. Moreover, the battery packs produced here can have capacities ranging from 1.2 kWh to 16 kWh. At a larger level, the system can go up to 1 MWh.

Smart Tracking Powers Battery Quality

Also, this facility has digital tracking. Moreover, each battery pack can be tracked throughout its life cycle. This system follows the latest Battery Aadhaar requirements, which helps in maintaining quality, safety, and proper records. Company officials said that this new plant will help improve their manufacturing strength and supply chain. It also shows their focus on using local manufacturing and modern technology to meet India’s energy needs.

According to Towards Chem&Materials, the lithium-ion battery market size accounted for USD 95.75 billion in 2025 and is predicted to increase from USD 110.93 billion in 2026 to approximately USD 416.96 billion by 2035, expanding at a CAGR of 15.85% from 2026 to 2035, due to the increased trend towards electric vehicles and reduction of dependence on fossil fuels.

Also, this new assembly line will support clean energy goals. It can help in storing renewable energy and supporting electric vehicles, which can reduce carbon emissions. The company is also working towards recycling and reusing battery parts to support sustainability.
Also, the facility is expected to create job opportunities and support local development in the region. It also strengthens the company’s position in the energy solutions market in India. Also, this new lithium-ion battery assembly line is an important step for the company as it focuses on future energy solutions and supports India’s move towards cleaner and more efficient energy systems.
