Meta Boosts AI Wearables Capabilities Through Limitless Purchase
A leading tech player, META, has acquired Limitless. This startup is based in the U.S., which is popular for making wearable Artificial Intelligence pendants that record and summarize details of conversations and meetings in plain language. All this is possible due to its integrated AI system. However, financial details have not yet been disclosed. A Meta spokesperson shared their view on the acquisition, saying, "We're excited that Limitless will be joining Meta to help accelerate our work to build AI-enabled wearables.”

Mark Zuckerberg has realized the huge impact of AI and made it a priority within the enterprise by announcing their vision to achieve “Superintelligence”. Meta has already employed AI to improve its popular social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram, and it is now aiming to increase the capabilities of smart glasses and to make partnerships with EssilorLuxottica.
Dan Siroker, a co-founder and chief executive at Limitless, mentioned in a message he posted on the start-up's website, “Meta recently announced a new vision to bring personal superintelligence to everyone, and a key part of that vision is building incredible AI-enabled wearables.” He further said, "We share this vision, and we'll be joining Meta to help bring our shared vision to life." We're no longer working on a weird fringe idea. We're building a future that now seems inevitable”.
Limitless has secured $33 million from investors, including venture capital powerhouse Andreessen Horowitz and the co-founders of OpenAI, Sam Altman and Greg Brockman. The startup is valued at $368 million following its 2023 funding round. Zuckerberg has launched an aggressive recruitment campaign, aiming to attract executives from tech giants like OpenAI, Google, and Apple with whopping multi-billion-dollar offers.
Earlier this year, Meta invested heavily in scale AI, with the startup’s co-founder, Alexander Wang, as part of the deal, and made him head of a newly developed unit called Superintelligence Labs. The deal to acquire Limitless is Meta's first major acquisition since its 2023 purchase of virtual reality firm Within.
