MG Motor has now officially unveiled the second-generation electric hatchback, the 2025 MG4 EV. This integrates with a new design, more advanced technology, and better performance in a package that redefines global EV hatchback segmentation. Introduced in China, the vehicle marked a significant step forward for the brand, accelerating its efforts in sustainable mobility. The new MG4, with its increased storage capacity, improved specs, and innovative battery, would prove that MG plans not only to challenge competitors in the mass market but also to compete with high-end EV players.

The MG4 EV is significantly larger than its predecessor, measuring 4,395 mm in length, 1,842 mm in width, and 1,551 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,750 mm. Nevertheless, despite the size augmentation, MG has been able to reduce its total weight, thereby enhancing its efficiency and driving dynamics. This is the freedom of composition and featherweight engineering that make the MG4 one of the most practical and efficient EV hatchbacks in its category.

One of the biggest highlights of the 2025 MG4 EV is the advanced battery technology it offers. There are two LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) battery pack options available to customers: a 42.8 kWh battery pack. This has a CLTC-certified range of 437 km, and a 53.9 kWh pack offering 530 km range. Both packs are fast-charging and can charge between 30 and 80 percent in just 20 minutes, making them very convenient for the modern EV user. In addition to these, MG is also launching the Anxin Edition, a flagship model featuring an advanced semi-solid-state battery estimated to have a capacity of approximately 70 kWh.

Looking ahead, MG has already indicated its intention to introduce the MG4 EV to the Indian market by the end of 2025 or early 2026. The model was initially presented at the Auto Expo 2023 in India, and the anticipation has been growing since then. With the increased investment in India's EV infrastructure and growing consumer demand for electric mobility, the MG4 EV may become a category-defining brand, just like the MG ZS EV has in the SUV sector. Furthermore, the launch of the 2025 MG4 EV by MG underscores the company's global strategy, which focuses on providing affordable, innovative, and sustainable car models.
