Motorola Set to Unveil Next-Gen Wireless Android Auto Dongle: MA2 with Upgraded Design and Improved Connectivity
Years after the launch, Motorola is preparing to launch the successor of the Motorola MA1 Wireless Android Auto Car Adapter, which could bring meaningful design and performance improvements for drivers who rely on wireless connectivity in their cars. During a networking event at Mobile World Congress 2026, the upcoming device, called MA2, was showcased, indicating the company’s plan to refresh its Android Auto adapter lineup.

Redesigned and Improved Usability
Since the original MA1 has remained one of the most widely used Google-approved wireless Android Auto Dongles, now Motorola is working on a redesigned version to address the limitations of its predecessor. Motorola’s upcoming wireless Android Auto Dongle MA2 will feature a flatter, squarish design, replacing the rounded shape of the MA1. The updated design is going to give users more control and visibility when the adapter is active, with the addition of a dedicated on/off switch and an LED indicator. …….
Removable USB Cable and Improved Hardware Connectivity
Another major change in the upcoming adapter is the inclusion of a removable USB cable. Motorola is expected to include both USB-A and USB-C cables in the package, since the dongle itself will feature a USB-C port, allowing users to choose the connection type that works best with their vehicle. Users may also use their own cable if needed.
The internal hardware specifications have not yet been specified; the MA2 will similarly connect to both 5GHz and Bluetooth, as the MA1. Moreover, like its predecessor, the adaptor will allow pairing up with two devices simultaneously.
Addressing Complaints from the Previous Model
From the previous model, many users reported issues of overheating, connectivity instability and reliability problems after long-term use. The updated version could also address some of the complaints users experienced with the MA1.
Expected Launch and Pricing
Motorola may release the MA2 as early as May in the selected markets. The device is rumoured to be priced around $40, much more affordable than MA1, which debuted at around $90.
According to Precedence Research, the global Wi-Fi adapter card market size is estimated at USD 5.60 billion in 2025 and is predicted to increase from USD 5.87 billion in 2026 to approximately USD 8.95 billion by 2035, expanding at a CAGR of 4.80% from 2026 to 2035. The demand for the market is driven by increasing adoption of wireless devices, technological advancements and the rising demand for stable and reliable enhanced security features.
With increasing competition from alternatives like AAWireless Two, Motorola’s updated version could become an attractive option for a better driving experience with a reliable and affordable way to use a wireless Android Auto Dongle
