Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, announced that the AI chip leader will build seven new supercomputers for the U.S. Department of Energy, while highlighting its achievement of $500 billion in Artificial Intelligence chip bookings. However, he added that the Chinese government has banned Nvidia from its market and that the company has not applied for U.S. export licenses for its newest chips due to China's stance. He further mentioned at a news conference during the company's GTC event, “They've made it very clear that they don't want Nvidia to be there right now. I hope that will change in the future because I think China is a very important market.”

The globe’s most valuable company is worth close to $5 trillion; Nvidia is at the core of the global rollout of AI. It is striking deals around the world while navigating the U.S.-China trade war, which could determine which country’s technology is most widely used worldwide.

Investors have also been seeking clarity on which chips the tech company plans to sell to the broader Chinese market. However, Huang didn't specify a timeline. He also praises President Trump's policy while announcing new products and deals. This will enable access to network technology that allows NVIDIA AI chips to work with quantum computers. Huang further stated, while praising the bold move by President Trump, "Putting the weight of the nation behind pro-energy growth completely changed the game. If this didn't happen, we could have been in a bad situation, and I want to thank President Trump for that."

The supercomputers that NVIDIA is building for the U.S. Energy Department will, in part, help the U.S. maintain and develop its nuclear weapons arsenal. The supercomputers will also be used to research various energy sources, including nuclear fusion. Oracle will design the large supercomputers for the U.S. Department of Energy and include 100,000 Nvidia A100 chips.
