Qualcomm has launched a new charging solution named Charge 5. It offers quick charging and cools the device relatively quickly, and its design is compatible with every Android device. It assists in keeping the health of devices longer than before, hence making it highly compatible with smartphones and modern devices, even with non-Snapdragon. The company has already launched this charging solution, which has been available in the market for decades, but it has not been updated since 2020.

Quick Charge 5 will offer new heights of charging speeds, which will be more than 100 watts, but according to Qualcomm, this new design makes devices cooler by dissipating heat energy and provides a constant charging experience. As heat is one of the major causes of device damage and health degradation in smart devices, these new designs offer a way to keep devices at low temperatures by adjusting voltage and current, thereby maintaining a continuous charging speed. And it can push up to 140W of power at 20V/7A.

However, the most impressive feature of Quick Charge 5 Plus is its compatibility with all previous versions of Quick Charge standards. All the modern smart devices launched in the last decade will be able to leverage the benefit of this charger. According to Qualcomm, “Quick Charge also works seamlessly with devices powered by non-Snapdragon platforms, delivering a charging experience equivalent to competitors’ chargers.” It highlights that this charger may also be compatible and work effectively even with smartphones powered by MediaTek, Exynos, and other mobile chipsets.

Though the chip maker hasn't yet revealed about efficiency and speed gains of Quick Charge 5 plus apart from its lower temperature feature, it can be assumed that devices with new standards will charge faster with constant temperature than they used to with normal range chargers. The first Quick Charge 5+ compatible devices will be introduced at this year’s Snapdragon Summit, which will be held from September 23rd to 25th, and accessories, such as chargers, will hit the market later this year.
