Microsoft and Asus collaboratively launched two new Windows-powered handhelds named the ROG Xbox Ally and the ROG Xbox Ally X. These both can be used for gaming purposes with AMD’s new processors, which offer an “immersive Xbox Full-screen experience,” which is a new feature.

Windows Powered ROG

The ROG Xbox is supported by the AMD Ryzen Z2 A processor, while the ROG Xbox Ally X packs are performance-oriented with the new AMD Ryzen AI Z2 extreme processor. Both gaming handhelds have a 120 Hz Full HD LCD screen, offering a brightness of 500 nits. They also have an anti-reflecting coating with AMD’s Freesync premium technology that helps mitigate the possibility of screen breakage. They both have a comfortable grip; textured patterns with redesigned palm rests make players comfortable to play for a long time. The ROG Ally has 16 GB RAM with internal storage of 512 GB. Whereas the ROG Ally comes with 1 TB storage and 25 GB RAM, which are supported by 60Wh and 80Wh batteries respectively.

A traditional way to play games with the help of a window desktop and taskbar, Asus is offering Xbox a full-screen experience with its innovative handhelds for gaming. It also reduces overhead performance on these handhelds with an easy way of exiting between playing from full-screen mode anytime and switching to the regular interface of Windows desktop and taskbar, which makes them more efficient and faster. Microsoft is also launching an AI-based gaming copilot to the game bar, aiming to offer a platform to gain new skills, communicate with others, and many more. In terms of availability, the ROG Xbox Ally and the ROG Xbox Ally X will be available soon in different countries, including the UAE, the U.S., Canada, Australia, Germany, Thailand, Turkey, the UK, Japan, Italy, Korea, Norway, Poland and others as well.

Its successful launch further led to developing the design of Valve’s Steam Deck- a small, handheld PC for gamers that offers access to the complete library of titles that gamers can buy via the game distribution service Steam. However, not every game will work on this device.
