Compact System Helping Industries Reuse Water

Sumitomo Electric announced a new compact wastewater treatment system made for industries that deal with oily waste liquids. Also, the company officially began selling this system in January 2026. Its main purpose is to help factories and industrial businesses reduce waste and reuse water in a more efficient way, as per the published report. Moreover, this new system is designed to treat wastewater created during different industrial activities such as waterjet cutting, grinding work, cutting operations, coolant use, and cleaning processes that involve oil. These types of waste liquids are usually difficult to manage, so the company developed this solution to make treatment easier and more practical.

According to Towards Chemicals And Materials Analytics and Consulting, the global liquid waste management market size was estimated at USD 101.85 billion in 2025 and is expected to be worth around USD 197.56 billion by 2035, growing at a CAGR of 6.85% from 2026 to 203., due to the greater shift towards waste recycling and wastewater treatments.

Furthermore, the key feature of the system is the filtration technology used inside it. Sumitomo Electric developed its own special membrane called POREFLON™, which can separate very small particles from wastewater. Also, the membrane is built to handle oil-based liquids effectively. It has strong chemical resistance and is designed to keep oil from sticking to the surface easily, which helps maintain stable performance for a longer time.

Moreover, the company aims to support industries in reducing waste and improving water reuse. The company also stated that it wants to contribute to a more sustainable society by helping businesses manage industrial wastewater more efficiently.
