TOYO Supports Development of One of the Largest Urea Plants in Nigeria
TOYO Powers Massive Urea Plant Projects
TOYO Engineering Corporation has been selected to supply its urea technology for a large fertilizer project being developed in Nigeria by BUA Chemicals Limited. The company said the facility is expected to become the world’s largest urea plant once completed as per the published report. Moreover, the project will include two production lines, each designed to produce 4,000 tons of granulated urea every day. Together, the total production capacity will reach 8,000 tons per day, making it one of the biggest fertilizer developments in the industry.
According to Towards Chemicals and Materials Analytics and Consulting, the global urea market size was estimated at USD 132.54 billion in 2025 and is expected to be worth around USD 208.80 billion by 2035, growing at a CAGR of 4.65% from 2026 to 2035. In terms of volume, the urea industry is projected to grow from 198.55 million tons in 2025 to 292.49 million tons by 2035, exhibiting a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 3.95% over the forecast period from 2026 to 2035, due to the heavy demand for a greater shift towards the modernization of agriculture.
TOYO will provide its urea synthesis and granulation technology during the Front End Engineering Design stage of the project. The company will also prepare important engineering documents required for the plant’s future construction and operations.
Moreover, this project is also important for Nigeria because it can help the country produce more fertilizer locally instead of depending on imports. This can support farmers, improve food production, and strengthen agriculture in the region. Also, this development has shown how advanced fertilizer technology is being used to build very large production facilities that can support global food needs in a more stable and efficient way.
