Transformer Oil Market

Powering Industries with Innovation

Shell Indonesia has unveiled a new product called Shell MIDEL, which is a special liquid used inside electrical transformers. Transformers are important machines that help in distributing electricity safely across power networks. Also, this new liquid is designed mainly for the power sector, including areas like electricity distribution, renewable energy systems, railways, mining, and other industries.

Also, the product focuses on safety and environmental protection. Compared to traditional transformer oils, Shell MIDEL is made using ester-based technology, which gives it better performance. It has a very high fire resistance, with a fire point above 300°C. This means it is much less likely to catch fire, making it safer for use, especially in sensitive areas.

According to Towards Chem&Materials, the transformer oil market size accounted for USD 3.85 billion in 2025 and is predicted to increase from USD 4.1 billion in 2026 to approximately USD 7.24 billion by 2035, expanding at a CAGR of 6.52% from 2026 to 2035, due to the increased need for high-performance oil.

Also, another benefit is that this liquid is biodegradable. If there is any leakage, it will have less harmful impact on the environment compared to conventional oils. This makes it a more eco-friendly option for industries that are trying to reduce environmental risks. Also, the company mentioned that the product has received important safety certifications like FM Global and UL. These certifications show that the product meets high safety standards and can be trusted for critical operations.

Moreover, Shell MIDEL is a new and improved liquid for transformers that is safer, more environmentally friendly, and better performing than older options. It supports the growing need for reliable and sustainable energy solutions.
