Union Health Minister JP Nadda inaugurated an artificial intelligence enabled E-ICU Command Centre at Yashoda Medicity in Ghaziabad, marking another step in the Centre’s efforts to expand technology-based critical care services nationwide. The newly launched facility combines AI capabilities with centralized ICU monitoring to enhance patient outcomes, enable faster clinical decisions and improve the overall management of intensive care units across both private and public healthcare institutions.

E-ICU Command Centre

The E-ICU Command Centre is built to assist critical care teams by consolidating patient information, issuing early warning alerts and allowing continuous remote supervision of ICU beds. Nadda emphasized that AI-supported intensive care systems can enable doctors to act more quickly and accurately in life-threatening situations. By identifying high-risk patients early and offering real-time, data-driven insights, such systems help clinicians make informed treatment decisions when time is crucial.

He also praised Yashoda Medicity for establishing a comprehensive multi-speciality healthcare network and highlighted the integration of the E-ICU facility with MMG District Hospital as a notable example of private-sector collaboration supporting public health objectives. Through this linkage, advanced specialist monitoring from a tertiary-care command centre can extend to patients in a government hospital, broadening access to high-quality critical care.

Positioning the initiative within the government’s broader digital transformation agenda, Nadda stated that under the leadership of Narendra Modi, digital innovation and AI have become central to strengthening India’s healthcare system. He referenced the National Health Policy 2017 as a foundational framework promoting a comprehensive digital health ecosystem aimed at improving access, quality and accountability in care delivery across the country.
