Duddilla Sridhar Babu, Minister for IT and Industries in Telangana, today outlined an ambitious initiative for training two lakh AI engineers in the state. This initiative is aimed at far-reaching government strategies to tap the booming demand for emerging technologies and make Telangana a global hub for technology and innovation. The announcement was made during a high-level interaction with a delegation led by Singapore Consul General Edgar Pang. Minister Babu underlined the commitment of Telangana to prepare youth with high-end skills.
Telangana is working towards training two lakh AI engineers to be capable of competing at the global technology leadership level, with the active involvement of the government in scaling artificial intelligence education and certification programs in conjunction with academic institutions, tech giants, and training centers. The reskilling and upskilling of existing engineers will also be part of the program to prepare them for AI and machine learning requirements. With the Future City initiative located a stone's throw away from Hyderabad, the government plans to set up a dedicated AI University as a flagship institution for advanced AI research, education, and innovation. The AI University would be one of the most significant projects under the Future City project, thereby adding to Telangana's rising status as a destination for futuristic technology projects.
The government of Telangana seeks to establish international partnerships in the area of Singapore, as expressed by Minister Sridhar Babu, who will further the cooperation in upcoming technologies, skills development, industrial growth, etc. The top officials from Singapore and their peers from Telangana have talked in detail about the various joint venture frameworks, exchange programs, and initiatives for business development. It will also encourage the industries to move operations to tier II cities like Warangal and Karimnagar with strong policy incentives for the industries. This will include overall infrastructure, land availability, tax benefits, and quality skilled manpower, as developed through AIE in their engineering initiative.
In the global capability center (GCC) market, Hyderabad is becoming a hot city, with about 70 GCCs set up during the past year in sectors such as IT, hospitality, healthcare, and finance. The conducive environment, availability of talent, and government incentives have been instrumental in this steady rise. Now, it has become very much preferred by multinational companies to seek global innovation support centers. Minister of Telangana, Sridhar Babu, has invited Singapore businesses to tell the tale of Telangana's investor-friendly ecosystem and foster partnerships in sectors like medtech, fintech, edtech, and logistics.
With its AI training, the Future City project, and international collaborations, Telangana aims to bring the state as the torchbearer of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The government firmly believes in guiding the youth for future opportunities with a smart policy and global partnerships on one hand and investments in education and innovation on the other. The details of the implementation roadmap will be released in the next few weeks.
