India’s ambulatory services sector is witnessing enhanced integration of emergency care logistics, with Apollo Hospitals expanding its air ambulance capabilities to improve access to critical care across domestic and international regions. Announced on April 9, 2026, the initiative involves the signing of multiple memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with national and global air ambulance operators to streamline patient transfers and strengthen emergency response coordination.

Air Ambulance Network

The initiative is being integrated through Apollo’s 1066 Emergency Response Network, which is designed to enable faster and more structured movement of patients requiring urgent medical attention. By formalizing partnerships with specialized service providers, the hospital network aims to address longstanding inefficiencies in emergency medical transport, where patient transfers, especially from remote or underserved regions, have often been fragmented, costly, and dependent on informal channels.

In its initial phase, Apollo Hospitals has collaborated with a wide range of air ambulance operators, including Bluedot Charters and Air Ambulance Services, AeroMed International Rescue Services Pvt Ltd, Jhankar Aviation Pvt Ltd, iCATT Health Solutions Pvt Ltd, and Air Rescuers World Wide Pvt Ltd, among others. These collaborations are expected to expand the availability of coordinated air ambulance services for high-acuity and time-sensitive medical cases requiring rapid transfer to advanced tertiary and quaternary care centers.

The program integrates air transport with Apollo’s broader emergency infrastructure, including on-ground ambulance services, airport-to-hospital connectivity, and clinical coordination systems. This end-to-end “bed-to-bed” transfer model is designed to improve response times, ensure hospital preparedness, and facilitate seamless patient movement across cities and borders. Industry experts suggest that such integrated models are becoming increasingly critical as demand for rapid access to specialized care rises, particularly in Tier II and Tier III cities and remote regions.

The development highlights a broader trend within the ambulatory services market, where healthcare providers are investing in coordinated emergency mobility solutions to improve patient outcomes and operational efficiency. Enhanced air ambulance networks are expected to play a key role in bridging geographical gaps in healthcare access, particularly in large and diverse markets like India.

According to the Precedence Research, the ambulatory services market size accounted for USD 89.50 billion in 2025 and is predicted to increase from USD 95.59 billion in 2026 to approximately USD 172.80 billion by 2035, expanding at a CAGR of 6.80% from 2026 to 2035 as increasing demand for rapid emergency response services and growing healthcare infrastructure drive market growth.

A recent report by Precedence Research highlights that the ambulatory services market is benefiting from advancements in medical transport technologies, rising adoption of integrated care networks, and increasing focus on improving accessibility to critical care services across urban and remote regions.
