Australia reveals consultation on cannabis cultivation rules before the 2027 termination

Australia's Department of Health, Disability and Ageing has introduced a public consultation on the regulations strengthening medicinal cannabis cultivation, ahead of its scheduled sunset of 2027.

Moreover, the set of the Narcotic Drugs Regulation 2016 and the Narcotic Drugs (Licence Charges) Regulation 2016 till the end of 1 April 2027, the automatic cancellation applies to federal legislative instruments after a fixed period under the Legislation Act 2003.

Whereas for cultivators, these instruments have a pivotal role as the operational core of the licensing systems, while close to the Narcotic Drugs Act 1967, it brings effect to Australia's obligations under the 1961 Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs. Further regulates the cultivation of cannabis plants for medicinal & scientific applications. The regulations explore how cultivation, production and manufacture licenses are authorized, coupled with the fees & annual charges connected to them.
