EGA and Century Aluminum Collaborate to Establish First American Smelter in Nearly 50 Years

Emirates Global Aluminum(EGA) and Century Aluminum Company have announced a joint venture in the U.S aimed at establishing the first new primary aluminum smelter in almost five decades. The new smelter would be built in Inola, Oklahoma. Once operational, it can produce as much as 750,000 tonnes of aluminum annually, which is more than double the present day U.S domestic aluminum production. This venture aims to decrease the nation’s need to import aluminum.
