HUDCO launches NSG Waste Management Project

Housing and Urban Development Corporation Ltd. (HUDCO) has taken a step under its CSR activities by starting a sustainable solid waste management project at the National Security Guard (NSG) campus in Manesar, India. Also, this initiative focuses on improving how waste is handled in a large and active campus, while also promoting environmentally responsible practices.

Moreover, the project began with a foundation ceremony held on February 9, 2026, in the presence of senior officials from both HUDCO and NSG. Before this, the two organizations had signed an agreement on January 21, 2026, to work together on setting up a proper waste management system across the entire campus, which spreads over 1,700 acres.Furthermore, the aim of this project is to build a complete system that takes care of waste from the moment it is collected to the stage where it is finally processed and disposed of. Also, waste will be collected from different parts of the campus, including residential and working areas, and then transported to a central facility. There, it will be treated using scientific methods to ensure it does not harm the environment.

According to Towards Chem&Materials, the solid waste management market size accounted for USD 1.75 trillion in 2025 and is predicted to increase from USD 1.86 trillion in 2026 to approximately USD 3.29 trillion by 2035, expanding at a CAGR of 6.52% from 2026 to 2035, due to the heavy shift towards waste recycling.

Also, one of the important features of the project is its ability to handle around 5 to 7 tonnes of waste every day. A biogas plant is also being set up as part of this system. This plant will process about 2 tonnes of organic waste daily, mainly from kitchens and residential areas. The gas produced through this process will be used as a substitute for LPG in one of the campus canteens, helping reduce the use of conventional fuel.

Moreover, through this project, HUDCO has shown its commitment to environmental responsibility. At the same time, it sets an example of how organized waste management can make a difference in large institutions.
