The Farnell, a global distributor of industrial and electronic technology solutions, has expanded its partnership with Toshiba by launching a new portfolio of Toshiba products via Farnell Japan. The expanded partnership will fuel the semiconductor innovation and supply for Japan’s electronics companies. Japan will experience growth and extensive deals, and opportunities through this reinforced collaboration. This decision will prominently advance access to product availability for system designers and engineers across Japan. It will symbolize one of the milestones for both companies' valuable collaborative growth.

Farnell

Farnell has been a supportive and reliable distributor of Toshiba’s electronic components, mainly for MOSFETs and power semiconductors. The supply chain has strengthened, encouraging Toshiba to co-develop or introduce new products across a wide spectrum, with Farnell's support.

The next move

The expansion of the previous strategies is parallel with Toshiba’s current completion of phase 1 of its Kaga wafer fabrication facility upgrade. It consists of advanced 300mm (12-inch) wafer production lines. The addition to this will be expanded support for the production capacity, which will elevate the development of remarkable semiconductor technologies. The technologies focus on reaching at expected demand for efficient and effective applications.

The partners are precisely focusing on Toshiba’s low-voltage MOSFET (LV MOSFET) portfolio. The portfolio is undoubtedly quick at switching and holds low resistance and high energy performance. These devices are primarily used in complex applications, such as base station DC-DC converters and server AC-DC power supplies. The devices promise lower noise, reliability, and less switching losses. The partnership reflects both companies’ commitment to providing high-performance and quality semiconductor solutions in the Japanese market and worldwide.

Views and Statements

Senior Procurement Services leader at Farnell, Adrian Cotterill, said, “Japan is a valuable region for us. Our enhanced alliance with Toshiba highlights and strengthens our commitment to serving the excellent semiconductor solutions to meet the emerging needs of designers and engineers in this region.”

Senior Manager, distribution sales at Toshiba, Ian Wilson said, “We are excited to announce the expansion and deep value to our partnership with Farnell as they have marked their presence in Japan.
