In September 2026, Nidek introduced 3 ophthalmic technologies that have been developed to enhance imaging, screening, analytics, and data processing: the RSD-1 Duo OCT/Fundus Camera, AFC-1 Non-mydriatic Auto Fundus Camera, and EyeLink Eye Care Data Management Platform. The company intends to demonstrate these products at the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS) 2026, which is scheduled to happen from September 11 to 14 in London, U.K.

The RSD-1 Duo brings together optical coherence tomography (OCT) and fundus photography, and the AFC-1 facilitates nonmydriatic fundus imaging. The company said that both devices adopt automation in their operations and are meant to enable continuous acquisition of images without overloading the operator. The RSD-1 Duo and AFC-1 leverage slit-scan technology to enable color fundus imaging. It has been developed to generate high-contrast, high-definition images, and it also reduces artifacts and shadows. These systems offer 50-degree imaging even in just 2 mm pupils. It can automatically bring together up to 7 images to generate a panoramic composite. The FAF model of the RSD-1 Duo also comes with Fundus autofluorescence imaging.

EyeLink helps to centralize patient imaging information on a server, which enables the images which are acquired from the RSD-1 Duo and AFC-1 to be automatically transferred to the platform and can be viewed on multiple computers in a medical facility. It also comes with Retina Viewer as an optional feature that enhances the platform's capabilities to perform OCT and OCT angiography analysis. It has the segmentation feature, which is powered by deep learning models, to detect boundaries of the retinal layer on B-scan images and acts as the basis for the Structural Normality Map. This map helps to detect and display structural anomalies, such as minute retinal variations, to help medical professionals interpret the images.

Impact on the AI Industry

According to Precedence Research, the launch of the RSD-1 Duo OCT/Fundus Camera, AFC-1 Non-mydriatic Auto Fundus Camera, and EyeLink Eye Care Data Management Platform is expected to positively impact the AI industry. This launch is a significant milestone in gathering information from an eye, imaging it, and interpreting the data effectively. These products feature significant advancements in terms of the use of next-generation imaging technologies, which include highly sophisticated lenses and slits. This helps to capture every subtle piece of information and transfer it to an image. AI helps to analyze these images effectively and at a significant pace.

Impact on the Diagnostic Imaging Market

The global diagnostic imaging market size was calculated at USD 50.12 billion in 2025 and is predicted to increase from USD 52.55 billion in 2026 to approximately USD 80.12 billion by 2035, expanding at a CAGR of 4.80% from 2026 to 2035.

According to Precedence Research, the introduction of the RSD-1 Duo OCT/Fundus Camera, AFC-1 Non-mydriatic Auto Fundus Camera, and EyeLink Eye Care Data Management Platform is expected to modernize the diagnostic imaging market. The increasing usage of digital workflows has increased the strain on people's eyes. The education system is also increasingly using digital technologies to impart effective learning, such as projectors, tablets, computer-based tests, and online lectures.

This has resulted in an increase in the prevalence of eye conditions, which has increased the workload of diagnostic departments. This launch will alleviate their burden as it incorporates advanced imaging and analysis technologies to enhance the pace and efficiency of capturing data precisely, generating images, and then accurately analyzing them.

Impact on the Cybersecurity Market

The global cybersecurity market size was valued at USD 301.91 billion in 2025, calculated at USD 339.96 billion in 2026, and is expected to reach around USD 969.45 billion by 2035. The market is expanding at a solid CAGR of 12.37% over the forecast period 2026 to 2035.

According to Precedence Research, the launch of the RSD-1 Duo OCT/Fundus Camera, AFC-1 Non-mydriatic Auto Fundus Camera, and EyeLink Eye Care Data Management Platform is expected to propel the cybersecurity market. The adoption of automation technologies in medical imaging will require diagnostic centers to upload data to cloud servers so that AI models can access large datasets. Healthcare is a heavily regulated sector with stringent laws regarding data privacy. This prompts medical institutions to adopt advanced cybersecurity solutions to ensure the security of healthcare workflows and data.
