NRDC and SS Medical Systems Partner to Deploy Microwave-Based Infection Control Technology Across Government Hospitals
National Research Development Corporation (NRDC), which is an enterprise funded by the Government of India to encourage the use of indigenous technologies, has announced that it has entered into a strategic partnership with SS Medical Systems India Pvt Ltd (SSMED) to help it deploy the advanced microwave-based infection control technology in government healthcare facilities throughout the country.
First created by the Society of Applied Microwave Electronics Engineering and Research (SAMEER) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), to help prevent infections as well as better process biomedical waste in hospitals.

Scaling Infection Control Solutions Nationwide
In addition to cost savings and ecological friendliness, “microwave” technology offered by SS Medical Systems allowed the easy disposal of infectious waste and the prevention of hospital-acquired infections (HAIs), the company said. The company will triple the use of this innovation in public ownership facilities in India with the help of NRDC for the transfer and commercialization of the technology.
Monish Bhandari, CMD, SS Medical Systems India Pvt. Ltd., said that the collaboration will bring a positive change in the overall infection control practice, and this will help improve the overall hygiene standard in hospitals in the country to a great extent.
According to Precedence Research, the Hospital Acquired Infection Control Market size was calculated at USD 22.30 billion in 2025 and is predicted to increase from USD 23.79 billion in 2026 to approximately USD 42.65 billion by 2035, expanding at a CAGR of 6.70% from 2026 to 2035, owing to increased demand to prevent and secure infections.
