Berry Global launched the improved 10ml ophthalmic bottle termed ‘easy squeeze’ meant for the Aptar Pharma ophthalmic squeeze dispenser (OSD) that is used for products without preservatives including eye treatments. The bottle is made of LDPE and comes in two product variations – a 10ml hybrid and soft with the latter boasting a low squeeze force for easier usage. The firm claims the pocket-size design is the most user-friendly and fast flow controlled to allow accurate dispensing of drops.
Both types are produced according to GMP requirements in cleanroom ISO 7 at the Offranville, France-based production factory. Every single bottle goes through extensive automatic testing for important quality parameters like leakage and contour tests and is passed for gamma and eto sterilization. The advanced facilities of Berry give rise to limited batch dependencies and attack lead times.
The new bottle was developed to easily integrate with OSD thereby ensuring precise placement of the formulation in the eye of the patient. Aptar Beauty recently developed a neo-dropper packaging in response to the evolution of more complex concentrated formulas for precise application. As a healthcare industry offering, Berry recently launched a new series of clarified polypropylene (PP) bottles which are claimed to cut down CO2 emissions by about 71% and enhance recyclability over the standard colored PET pill bottles.
Eric Green, CEO of West Pharmaceutical Services, recently shared his views on the growing demand for advanced medical packaging solutions.
Green noted that the medical packaging sector, particularly ophthalmic packaging, is experiencing strong growth due to increased healthcare access, more chronic diseases, and innovations in drug delivery systems.
Ron Delia, CEO of Amcor, announced the company’s strong commitment to sustainability in medical packaging, including ophthalmic packaging.
Delia explained that Amcor is investing heavily in research and development to create recyclable and sustainable packaging solutions that do not compromise the quality or safety of medical products.
