In March 2026, SEEPEX announced an enhanced design of its BN series progressive cavity pumps that incorporates a new Smart Joint Access(SJA) system. This innovation is aimed at improving maintenance activities and overall reliability for industries that require continuous fluid transfer. Progressive cavity pumps are commonly utilized in the transfer of fluids that have high viscosity. Due to the nature of the fluids being transferred in these pumps, quick maintenance and inspection are essential for efficient performance.

The Smart Joint Access design offers a unique opportunity for operators to inspect critical components of the progressive cavity pumps via a specially created access point in the suction housing. Normally, inspecting the joints in progressive cavity pumps involves a process that requires the partial disassembling of the equipment. This process can be very time consuming and may require the cessation of operations. The SJA design offers a simplified process for operators to inspect the condition of the joints in progressive cavity pumps.

Improved Inspection and Maintenance Efficiency

The enhanced BN series pump is intended for sectors including mining, construction and tunnelling, where progressive cavity pumps are generally utilized for pumping thick fluids, including explosive emulsions or slurry. In these sectors, pumps are needed that can pump fluids under strong mechanical stress. The SJA feature assists operators in monitoring the mechanical link that connects the rotor to the drive system, which is one of the most important parts of the pump.

The global progressive cavity pump market size was calculated at USD 2.68 billion in 2025 and is predicted to increase from USD 2.82 billion in 2026 to approximately USD 4.45 billion by 2035, expanding at a CAGR of 5.20% from 2026 to 2035 as the demand grows for efficient pumping of viscous and abrasive fluids in the oil and gas industry, wastewater treatment plants and the food processing sector.

Significance for the Pump Industry

The enhancement of this pump is part of a larger trend in the progressive cavity pump industry where manufacturers are creating pump designs that are service-friendly and operationally effective. The industry is witnessing an increased focus on innovations that make pumps simpler to maintain without compromising pumping performance. Such innovations are helping industries overcome common issues that affect pump performance, allowing them to sustain production levels while reducing downtime.

A recent report by Precedence Research highlights that the progressive cavity pump market is benefiting from the growing requirement for efficient fluid handling.
