Regentis Advances European Launch Plans for GelrinC with Surgeon Training Initiative 

Preparing for Commercial Launch in Europe 

Regentis Biomaterials is moving closer to the commercial introduction of GelrinC® in Europe by launching a comprehensive surgeon training program in the third quarter of 2026. The initiative follows the product’s CE Mark approval and is designed to help orthopedic surgeons gain hands-on experience before the technology becomes widely available. By focusing on physician readiness, the company aims to support a smooth market introduction and broader adoption across European healthcare systems. 

According to Towards Healthcare, the Europe foot and ankle devices market is projected to experience significant growth, with estimates suggesting the market size will increase from USD 1.81 billion in 2026 to approximately USD 3.59 billion by 2035, representing a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 7.9% from 2026 to 2035. The market is expanding steadily, driven by rising sports injuries, increasing incidence of orthopedic disorders, growing elderly populations, technological advancements in implants, and greater demand for minimally invasive procedures.

Hands-On Training for Orthopedic Specialists 

The first training sessions are expected to be held in Milan, Italy, at Humanitas Research Hospital, a leading European center for orthopedics and sports medicine. Surgeons participating in the program will receive practical instruction on the implantation procedure, which uses a ready-to-use implant and can be completed in approximately ten minutes. Additional training events are planned across several European countries as part of the company’s expansion strategy. 

Building a Network of Clinical Excellence 

To strengthen education and knowledge sharing, Regentis is also establishing a network of European Centers of Excellence. These centers will serve as key clinical hubs where experienced orthopedic specialists can provide guidance, training, and support to other physicians. The initiative is expected to accelerate awareness of cartilage repair techniques and encourage the adoption of GelrinC in routine clinical practice throughout Europe. 

GelrinC’s Potential in Cartilage Repair 

GelrinC is a cell-free, off-the-shelf hydrogel implant developed for the treatment of knee cartilage lesions. Designed to promote natural cartilage regeneration, the product offers a simple, single-step procedure with long-term clinical benefits. Studies have demonstrated significant pain reduction, improved joint function, and durable outcomes over several years. While already approved in the European Union, GelrinC is also being evaluated in a pivotal U.S. FDA study. Regentis believes the technology can address a substantial unmet need in knee cartilage repair, where effective off-the-shelf regenerative treatment options remain limited today.
