Tenable And OpenAI Strengthen Security For Enterprise AI Agents
In September 2026, Tenable collaborated with OpenAI to develop CyberAgents Exchange AI Inspector, which is a security review process for AI agents, skills, MCP servers, and multi-agent playbooks available through Tenable’s CyberAgents Exchange. Unveiled today at OpenAI’s Intelligence at Work: Cyber Summit, Exchange Inspector combines frontier assessment using OpenAI GPT cyber models, skills inspection powered by Tenable One AI Exposure, and expert review from Tenable researchers, helping to enable security teams to safely accelerate enterprise adoption of agentic AI. The collaboration grew from Tenable’s participation in the OpenAI Daybreak Defense Network. Exchange Inspector is expected to be available in September.
Launched in August 2026, the CyberAgents Exchange is an open-source, cybersecurity-native registry for AI agents, skills, MCP servers, and multi-agent playbooks in the current market. Following its recent SWARM build event, hosted by Tenable at Black Hat USA, the Exchange now includes more than 100 community-submitted AI components.
The Exchange Inspector also combines assessments using OpenAI GPT cyber models with Tenable One AI Exposure and reviews by Tenable security researchers. The company said the process is intended to help security teams assess AI components before deploying them in enterprise environments.

Impact on the AI Market
Exchange Inspector is set to use OpenAI’s GPT cyber models for frontier security assessments, while Tenable One AI Exposure will inspect the skills within submitted components. Tenable researchers will also review the components as part of the process. The aim is to give security teams more visibility into the risks associated with third-party and community-built AI components before they are introduced into enterprise environments.
The development comes as AI agents are moving beyond standalone assistants toward systems that can access tools, interact with enterprise data, and execute tasks with limited human intervention. This creates additional security considerations around the components that agents use and the permissions they receive.
Impact on the Artificial Intelligence as a Service Market
