Trane Technologies has taken a bold step toward reshaping the future of commercial buildings with the launch of two new solutions, Artificial Intelligence Control and ARIA. These tools, unveiled in September 2025, aim to enhance the ease of building maintenance while also increasing energy efficiency. The company's goal is to help businesses reduce expenses, carbon emissions, and maintain building operations by fusing artificial intelligence with sophisticated automation.
The first solution, AI control, uses advanced algorithms to study how a building is being used, monitor weather forecasts, and track real-time energy demand. The heating, ventilation, and cooling systems are automatically adjusted to provide optimal performance using this data, eliminating the need for human intervention. According to Trane AI, control can help reduce emissions by nearly 40% and lower heating and cooling energy consumption by up to 25%. Crucially, it integrates seamlessly with existing Trane control systems, enabling businesses to reap the benefits without the need for new equipment.
Alongside AI Control, Trane introduced ARIA, a conversational AI assistant built for facility managers. By answering questions in natural language, offering maintenance advice, and even anticipating problems before they arise, ARIA functions as a digital partner. Because it is available on desktop and mobile devices and supports more than a dozen languages, teams from different geographical locations can use it with ease. ARIA helps close the gap between technical systems and human decision-making by simplifying complex building data.
These developments are the result of Trane's acquisition of BrainBox AI in late 2024, which gave rise to the BrainBox AI Lab. The lab focuses on combining artificial intelligence and human expertise to address some of the major issues that building operations are currently facing, such as high energy costs, aging infrastructure, and a lack of skilled labor. Considering that approximately 75% of U. S. commercial buildings are older than 25 years, technologies like AI Control and ARIA come at a crucial moment to update facilities without requiring significant renovations.
By unveiling AI Control and ARIA, Trane is reinforcing its leadership in the smart building space. The company is betting on AI as the key to creating healthier, more sustainable, and more cost-effective environments. For building owners and operators, the benefits are immediate: lower bills, reduced environmental impact, and smarter insights for long-term success. With this launch, Trane is not just improving HVAC systems; it is redefining how buildings of the future will think, learn, and operate.
