Yishawu Launches 2-Year Free Health Insurance Program for the Residents of Eti-Osa II.

In August 2026, 2-year free health insurance coverage was awarded to the residents of Eti-Osa Constituency II in the state of Lagos, Nigeria. This coverage comes under the Ilera Eko Standard Jaara Health Insurance Scheme. It has been funded by Hon. Gbolahan Yishawu, who is the lawmaker in the constituency. This scheme is intended to benefit around 5,000 people and was inaugurated at the Y-Arena Multipurpose Centre, Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, Lagos. This event saw a significant attendance of beneficiaries and residents.

Hon. Gbolahan Yishawu said that he launched this scheme to make the residents aware of the benefits of health insurance, especially in the current scenario where medical bills are rising rapidly, and many people are not able to afford quality healthcare. He also said that this is a requirement for people today, and he launched this scheme to cater to that need.

According to Mr. Ramon, a representative of the Lagos State Health Management Agency, announced that participants would get a policy number, which they can use to access healthcare facilities at the medical facility which they have chosen. He said that this program would cover general appointments, specialized consultations, medical tests, dental and eye care, minor surgeries, and various other medical services. There are various segments that would benefit pregnant women, which include antenatal care, drugs, scans and delivery, and healthcare coverage for newborn babies for 28 days.
