Amazon has launched Health AI, an AI-powered health assistant on its website and app, designed to help users with health inquiries, manage prescriptions, and connect with healthcare providers. Currently available only in the U.S., it can also schedule appointments and offer advice based on user health data, pending access permission.

Amazon’s New Health AI: Your Personal Medical Assistant is Here

This initiative aligns with other AI healthcare applications, like OpenAI's ChatGPT Health, which connects medical records for personalized health inquiries. Health AI aims to simplify healthcare navigation by answering health questions, clarifying medical records, and interpreting lab results.

According to Precedence Research, the AI in Virtual Medical Assistants Market size accounted for USD 1.92 billion in 2025 and is predicted to increase from USD 2.30 billion in 2026 to approximately USD 11.69 billion by 2035, expanding at a CAGR of 19.80% from 2026 to 2035 as demand grows for advancements in artificial intelligence technology, increasing healthcare demands, and the need for operational efficiency.

With user consent, it can analyze health information for tailored responses and connect users to licensed professionals through One Medical, allowing messaging, video calls, or in-person visits. Health AI can renew prescriptions by sending requests to One Medical providers, enabling users to fill them via Amazon Pharmacy or their preferred pharmacy. It can also suggest relevant healthcare products on Amazon. Introduced earlier this year for One Medical app users, Amazon is now expanding its availability on Amazon.com and the mobile app, with a broader rollout expected soon.

Amazon’s Health AI Bridges the Gap Between Queries and Clinicians

Customers can sign up on the Amazon Health page and will receive email notifications when Health AI is accessible. Users can opt to share their medical data through the Health Information Exchange for more personalized responses, including medical history and lab results. Health AI may also consider relevant Amazon purchases to enhance its responses and guide users in the next steps.

If professional care is necessary, it can connect users with One Medical providers for messaging, video consultations, or in-person visits. Amazon emphasizes that Health AI is a tool to assist healthcare providers, not a replacement, aimed at helping users understand health information and prepare for discussions with medical professionals, rather than providing diagnoses or treatments.

A recent report by Precedence Research highlights that the AI in the Virtual Medical Assistants Market is benefiting from increased demand for administrative automation, advanced patient monitoring, and the need to mitigate healthcare worker burnout.
